Thanksgiving is the perfect time of year to reflect on the many things for which we are thankful. In the spirit of the season, we are showing our gratitude to the Members of Congress who strongly support the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program. This program is essential to medical and health professions students who are committed to public service, and is an important investment in the health, education, and safety of America’s communities.
In a recent hearing before the House Committee on Education and Labor, congressional champions of the program, including members of the PSLF Caucus, emphasized the realities of recipients who rely on PSLF to manage their student debt while they work hard to provide for others.
In September, the Congressional Tri-Caucus released a statement detailing their Higher Education Act reauthorization priorities, including the need to protect PSLF. PSLF, among other federal policies and programs, helps address educational inequalities to foster and support a diverse student population, a key goal of the caucus.
In addition to the members of the PSLF and Tri-Caucuses, we also thank the individual Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle who have made a commitment to protecting PSLF by offering their continued support.
Get Involved, Give Back
If you would like to join in the spirit of giving, there are many ways you can get involved this holiday season. Learn how you can help save PSLF by sending a postcard to Congress, sharing your story, or posting graphics across your social media channels to help raise awareness.
Thank you to all congressional PSLF champions and to the many ED to MED advocates who are working tirelessly to help #SavePSLF. We wish a Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones!
