October is Corps Community Month—the month the Health Resources and Services Administration’s National Health Service Corps (NHSC) celebrates and recognizes the contributions that NHSC clinicians make to our nation’s rural and medically underserved communities. The NHSC works to grow the primary care workforce by awarding scholarships and loan repayment to health care professionals who practice in areas with limited access to care.
The NHSC’s Students to Service Loan Repayment Program (S2S LRP) provides up to $120,000 to fourth-year medical and dental students who are pursuing degrees in primary care and committed to practice in underserved communities.
ED to MED student advocates, especially those in their third or fourth year of medical or dental school, are encouraged to participate in an upcoming webinar on Thursday, October 25 to learn more about this important program. Hosted by the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine and the NHSC, the webinar will provide participants with the unique opportunity to talk directly with NHSC officials about requirements to qualify and apply for the S2S LRP and its financial benefits to students. Sign up to be notified when the S2S LRP application cycle opens.
