On March 2, Dr. Seuss would have celebrated his 115th birthday. Dr. Seuss’s books are beloved by children everywhere and contain important messages about life, responsibility, and morality for readers of all ages.
Although he never attended medical school, we want to honor one of our favorite “doctors” by answering frequently asked questions about ED to MED in the style of some of our favorite Dr. Seuss books.
What is ED to MED?
We do not like these graduate student loans
No we do not, they chill us to our bones!
That’s why we advocate, for you and for me
So Congress will listen, and help us to one day be debt free!
What can I get out of ED to MED?
You’ll fly to the District and meet with a Rep
To tell them loans matter, and tell them with pep.
You surely will love it, I know that you will
When you make your voice heard on Capitol Hill!
How can I get involved?
Oh the ways you can join! There are many and more
You can write to DC. Say what Grad PLUS is for!
Such magical things you can do with your voice
Help students, help patients, let communities rejoice!
Do I have to be an osteopathic medical student to join?
Doctors, dentists, social workers and vets,
Health care professionals and zookeepers, and all of your pets!
They’re all encouraged to join ED to MED
Because PSLF unites us in one common thread.
Why do federal programs such as these matter to patients?
Patients need and deserve access to care
And federal programs help health care professionals practice everywhere.
In rural communities, in areas underserved
Let’s all join together until PSLF and Grad PLUS are preserved!
What makes you want to advocate for the health professions community? Tell us on Twitter using #SeussForSchool for a chance to be shared on the ED to MED channel!
Not a member of the ED to MED community yet? Make sure to join today. With the collective power of all our voices, we’re excited about the places we’ll go.
